Module 1: The Role of the Site Owner This module explains the role of the Site Owner / Site Collection Administrator and offers a review of core SharePoint topic. o Role of the Site Owner o Site Owner related menus and options Module 2: SharePoint Review In this module we will take a brief guided tour of SharePoint from the point of view of the end-user as a review of SharePoint 2007 features and to discover a few features you may have not have found on your own. As a site owner or power user you need to have strong end-user skills. This is your chance to “fill in the gaps” before getting into site and list customization. o SharePoint Review: Your instructor will guide you through a quick hands-on exploration of SharePoint and review any of these features you would like to learn more about: libraries, lists, adding content, uploading content, folders, alerts, recycle bin, templates and search. Module 3: Using and Customizing Lists In this module you will see how to customize lists and libraries. All lists, from link lists to document libraries, have a common set of features. These include general settings such as title and description, user access permissions, custom columns and custom views. o List Settings: General Settings, Content Approval, Folders, Item-level Permissions, List and Library Versioning Options, Checking Documents In and Out o Customizing Columns o Site Columns o Content Types o Creating Lists by Importing Excel Files o Creating and Modifying Views o Communications Options: RSS and Incoming E-Mail o Search Visibility o Overview of Workflows Module 4: Creating Forms Libraries In this module you will see how to create and use Forms libraries. Forms Libraries are SharePoint libraries based on an InfoPath form template. InfoPath is a client application installed on the user’s PC and is used both to design forms and fill out forms. MOSS Enterprise includes a backend InfoPath server (InfoPath Forms Server) that can deliver forms to users via a browser. o Creating a Forms Library o Publishing an InfoPath form to a library Module 5: Creating Web Pages In this module you will see how to create and use Basic Pages and Web Part Pages. Often you will need to create a page within a SharePoint site that does not need any SharePoint features such as web parts or lists. Basic Web Pages as easy to create, are treated the same as any other document and are stored in a document library. In addition to a site's home page you can use web parts on pages you create. o Creating Basic Web Pages o Using the Rich Text Editor o Creating Web part Pages Module 6: Sites and Workspaces In this module you will see how to customize sites and workspaces. o Changing the Look and Feel - Title, Description, Theme, Tree View, Quick Launch and Top Link Bar o Web Part Basics o Web Part Properties o List and Library Web Parts o Frequently Used Web Parts Module 7: Users and Groups In this module you will see how to manage SharePoint security. o Users and Groups o Permissions o Adding Users o Review / Change Permissions o List and Library Permissions o Creating Custom Permission Levels\Audiences o Managing User Alerts Module 8: Site Activity In this module you will see SharePoint's activity reports. o Site Collection Usage Summary o Storage Space Allocation o Site Usage Reports o Dealing with Inactive Sites Module 9: Optional: Using SharePoint Designer In this optional module the instructor will demonstrate the use of SharePoint Designer. o Creating a Custom Workflow o Modifying the Master Page o Modifying a Site Page Module 10: Optional: SharePoint Search Review In this optional module you will explore SharePoint's search tools. o Search Overview o What is Searchable o Search Features o Search Syntax
